SHEET MATERIALS

Sheet materials are engineered for versatility. Formed by bonding solid or recycled timbers under controlled conditions, they deliver strength, stability and consistency, making them a smart choice for almost any construction or design application, from interior fit-outs to both structural and non-structural builds.

At HALT, we supply pre-treated sheet materials with fully certified fire-retardant performance, complete with clear documentation. The result: safer projects, simplified compliance and reduced risk built into every panel.

Where Are Sheet Materials Used?

Our pre-treated sheet materials are suitable for a wide range of projects.

- Interior walls and partitions – Architects specify our pre-treated sheets for restaurants, bars, and commercial spaces where timber aesthetics must meet fire safety standards.
- Furniture and joinery – Meet fire safety requirements without losing the natural look of wood. The treatment leaves no residue or staining, so boards arrive ready for finishing.
- Flooring and roofing – Fire protection that penetrates throughout the material provides lasting protection for structural elements.
- Ceilings and soffits – Overhead protection in areas where fire could otherwise spread through hidden cavities.

Sheet materials are cost-effective and work well alongside other timber products. For feature walls and structural accents, many architects combine sheet materials with fire retardant reclaimed timber for interiors that are both distinctive and compliant.

How Does Our Treatment Work?

HALT provide fire retardant treatment for timber using BURNBLOCK®, a natural, non-toxic fire retardant consisting of only natural ingredients. Using vacuum pressure impregnation, we force the treatment deep into the core of the material. When exposed to heat, the treated material forms a protective char layer that releases water and prevents oxygen from reaching the timber. Without oxygen, there is no fire. The result is reduced smoke production and more time for people to escape should a fire break out.

Ready to Install and Finish

The treatment is invisible. There is no shiny surface, no change in texture, and no staining. Your sheets arrive ready to install or finish, whether that means painting, staining, or leaving the natural wood visible. You can cut, drill, and work with our pre-treated sheets just like untreated material, without exposing unprotected layers. There is no negative effect on the strength of the material.

Certification and Documentation

Each species we treat achieves a Euroclass B-s1,d0 rating under EN 13501-1, which means limited combustibility, minimal smoke production, and no flaming droplets. HALT provide a CE and UKCA certified treatment process, making it easy to demonstrate compliance with Construction Products Regulations. All documentation, including fire classification reports, is supplied with each order. We only treat timber species that have been fully tested, so we can provide the correct documentation for each species you order. BURNBLOCK® contains none of the substances on the REACH Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) list. The treatment is water-based, completely biodegradable, and causes no adverse effects to the environment.

Combining Timber Products

Sheet materials often work alongside other timber elements in construction. For external cladding, HALT offer TGV timber, which is tongue and groove with a v-joint and the most popular profile for modern timber cladding in the UK. When all your timber components are treated to the same certified standard, specifying materials becomes simpler and compliance documentation stays consistent across your project.
